Carolina Garcia
Thursday, September 22, 2011
Carolina Garcia is the first Latina to be named as the leader of a major market English-language daily newspaper in the United States. She is the executive editor of the Los Angeles Daily News, which primarily serves Southern California’s San Fernando Valley. Garcia was named to head up that organization’s newsroom in April 2008.
Her journey to that accomplishment started in Wisconsin and included time as managing editor of the San Antonio Express-News and executive editor of the Monterey County Herald in Northern California. For a time, she was also the head of the American Society of News Editors’ (ASNE) Diversity Committee.
