Sybril "Dr. Syb" Bennett

Sybril Bennett, Ph.D. is an associate professor of journalism and the Executive Director of the New Century Journalism program at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Dr. Bennett, affectionately known as Dr. Syb has more than 17 years of television news experience. She’s worked ABC in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, CBS in Chicago, Illinois and CBS in Nashville, Tennessee. She’s been a desk assistant, associate producer, assignement desk editor, news writer, reporter and fill-in anchor/talk show host. She doesn’t tell you what she’s heard, she tells you what she knows.
Dr. Bennett is a new media maven who has attended convergence seminars at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida; the Ifra Newsplex in Columbia, South Carolina and the master digital storytelling seminar hosted by the American Press Institute.
She was a fellow in the Management Development Program at Harvard University. In addition, she attended the Scripps Howard Leadership Academy. As a result, she is becoming quite adept at facilitating change. With a Ph.D in higher education administration from Vanderbilt University, a M.Ed. from Loyola University of Chicago in college student personnel and a B.A. in broadcast and electronic communications from Marquette University, Dr. Bennett is an educated journalist with a wealth of experience.
